Chandigarh

Today we drove about 2.5 hours to the city of Chandigarh, which is the capital of the state of Punjab, where Ludhiana is located.  This city is known as a “clean city” and you can definitely notice the stark difference.  It’s a lot more green, the traffic laws are actually mostly obeyed, and the trash is minimal.

We were taken to the Rock Garden which is a sculpture garden made entirely out of recycled household trash, and it’s visited by 5,000 people a day!  It was interesting to say the least. Evidently, we are quite famous on this side of the globe. We literally had small crowds of people asking for pictures and squeezing into pictures that we or our friends were taking of us. It was quite the experience for the kids.

On our drive, Jaskamal asked us about a video on Youtube where “Christian missionaries” were having what seemed to be a revival where they were seeing miracles happening in large public quantities, such as whole missing legs being restored, or the deaf and blind being healed by the healing being claimed.  We had to explain that although God can and does perform miracles like this, these videos were put out by false teachers seeking money.  This led into a discussion about what true Christianity looks like, what our need is, how we cannot fulfill this need, but there is One who can.

We spoke about logic, about absolute truth, about Jesus being the only way, about creation, evolution, religion, and some more I’m sure I missed.

Unfortunately their hearts seemed unmoved or unfazed, we were very aware of Romans 9:14-18 and so we look to Him who has mercy. We are praying for open eyes as we continue to challenge them in their thinking, and as we live out Christ through our life and family.

We are all tired of being in a car for many hours in a day, and look forward to an uneventful day tomorrow and dinner with Jaskamal’s family.  Pray for more opportunities to minister.  We gave them both a copy of Sundar Singh‘s biography, and at least Jaskamal promised to read it and he also promised to read the Bible. Pray he keeps his promise.

Thank you for your continued prayer and thoughtfulness toward us while we’re here.  We know the saints are praying.

  1. Friends, you are missed! But I’m confident in the work the Lord has for you there. I’m grateful for the pictures! Such visual representations of the people and places to pray for! Your posts have certainly moved me emotionally, but most importantly to worship and prayer! What a mighty God we serve! Let his people hear and believe! Much MUCH love:)

  2. Indians must be seeking the truth and with God, that is His name. No darkness. No falsehood. The way, the truth and the life. Will they read the book of John?
