Henna

Uncategorized

By request of our sweet friend Mittu, I will post a few pictures of our henna experience with Sonika and Jaskamal’s sisters, Manpreet and Jaspreet. Our girls were really looking forward to having henna done while we were in India, so our friends took us a few nights ago. For any of you that aren’t familiar with it, it comes from a flowering plant that is used to dye skin, hair, cloth, etc. Henna tattoos are very popular in India. It would basically be the ideal job for people that love to doodle because that is pretty much what it is:) The artist applies the paste with a small bag that looks like a icing piping bag and you then must let it dry for at least an hour, the longer you leave it on your skin the darker the design will be. After it dries you flake it off (in the first picture Ianna is busy scraping hers off) and the tattoo looks orange, but by morning it is a deep brown. The henna lasts for about a week depending on how much you wash your hands. It was a fun experience, the girls really enjoyed it!
